Hospital Report Card
Hospital Report Card:
St. Charles Hospital received a prestigious honor recently when the Niagara Health Quality Coalition released its 2010 New York State Hospital Report Card in November 2010. The report placed St. Charles Hospital in the Top Hospital Recognition category for receiving a better than average performance score in numerous areas of patient safety.
St. Charles was also recognized on the Honor Roll in the areas of postoperative sepsis and postoperative pulmonary embolism (deep vein thrombosis.) St. Charles is one of only 20 hospitals, amongst nearly 300 hospitals in New York State, to make it into the Top Hospital Recognition category.
In order to achieve such a high ranking in the quality of care, St. Charles Hospital voluntarily participates in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ health care initiatives including the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP). The implementation of specific surgical interventions, as part of the SCIP initiative, produced the outstanding patient outcomes that brought Honor Roll recognition by the Niagara Health Quality Coalition.
