Muscular Dystrophy Care Center

The Muscular Dystrophy Care Center at St. Charles Hospital is the only MDA Care Center on Long Island dedicated to caring for both adults and children living with Muscular Dystrophy and other neuromuscular disorders.

In addition to Muscular Dystrophy, other nerve and muscle disorders treated at the Center include myopathies, inherited nerve disorders (charcot marie tooth), motor neuron disease (spinal muscular atrophy) and disorders of the neuromuscular junction (myasthenia gravis).

The MDA Care Center at St. Charles Hospital features a multidisciplinary team lead by the Hospital's neuromuscular physicians. For the convenience and optimal care of those living with neuromuscular disorders, physicians specializing in pulmonology, orthopedics, psychology and cardiology also see adults and children at the Center. On-site physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, radiology, laboratory testing, nutrition services and social services make the Center a single location where a wide range of needs are met.

Representatives from the MDA attend each clinic for added consultation and support.

Appointments with St. Charles Hospital's neuromuscular specialists take place on the first and third Fridays of each month.

Referrals for MDA Care Center appointments can be made to 631-474-6300.
